The question is for all of us out there who work for ourselves or small companies and have to purchase insurance ourselves..... Dear Dentists..... are there any insurance programs out there for individuals or individuals to join so that it will help us continue our care. I realize that it will probably not be as good as large companies but there are millions of us too and help! We would like to know from the professionals, which services are best. Thanks so much!

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Hi,I wish there was a great answer for that. Unlike health insurance, even the best dental insurace companies still have yearly maximums that have remained basically unchanged in years. I have had good expereinces with Delta Dental of TN in regards to professionalism. Most compaies will have decent coverage for preventative services, but beyond that, I would research their waiting periods, yearly maximums, and true co pay percentages. They may say they cover 80-100% of a procedure, but it is based off their fee schedule, not the docs. So, their fee may be 50.00, mine may be 100.00. Your benefit would be a % of 50.00, the balance would come out of your pocket. Dental insurance is always a help, but I would really research a company before signing on. I know that is not much help, but there is not a great answer.DrN
